Crater Lake

After San Francisco I camped for a night in Redwood National Park, and somehow I had decided that I could drive to Crater Lake for lunch and then make it to Olympic National Park in a reasonable time to camp. It wasn’t until I was eating lunch and checked directions that I realized I wouldn’t get to Olympic until 10 pm or later. So I do not recommend this road trip strategy but the Crater Lake stop was totally worth it! It was also, unfortunately, one of the locations where I could look out from my drive and spot distinct forest fires, and despite a strong breeze the lake was hazy.
