Keeping in tradition from last year, I’m late on Earth Day. In 2016 I posted a collection of forests, this year I’ve selected wildflowers, cacti and yucca from across the country.
Thistles in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas
Flowering prickly pear in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado
Flowers I don’t know the name of in Big Bend National Park, Texas
Yucca in Canyonlands National Park, Island in the Sky District
Big Bend National Park, Texas
Canyonlands National Park, Island in the Sky District. I love how sunlight on cactus needles make them look like they’re glowing.

Avalanche lily on the Washington section of the Pacific Crest Trail
The three photos above are all from Sheep Lake on the Washington section of the Pacific Crest Trail. One of my favorite places that I’ve ever camped.
Lilies on the PCT in Washington
Fireweed in Denali National Park, Alaska
Whitish Gentian in Denali National Park
Bear grass, my favorite flower on the PCT it usually comes up well above my waist. It’s like walking through fields of fireworks when you get a lot on a trail. Rhododenron behind. There was bear grass all over the Washington section as well but this picture is from Oregon.
Lilies and bear grass on the Oregon PCT.
I have no idea what kind of flower this is, it looks like red asparagus to me, but this is the dedication to plant photography my mom has. That is not a light pack.
Foxgloves near Portland, Oregon
Daisies and Mt. Hood, Oregon.
The final foxglove shot.
If you can ID any of the flowers that I didn’t I would really appreciate it, shoot me a message.
Shout out to the sources that I used, Wildflowers of Denali and PNW Flowers.
Happy Earth Day!
